Middletown Board of Ed. holds open forum

The Middletown Board of Education held an open forum Thursday night to discuss Gov. Chris Christie's cuts in school aid.

School officials announced at the meeting that 36 staff positions will be cut from the payroll, saving the district over $2 million.

Christie announced in February he would slash $475 million in state aid to more than 500 school districts around the state. The recent cuts will result in a $2.8 million reduction in state aid to Middletown schools.

The forum was held at Middletown North High School.
