Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Peter E. Warshaw Jr. says the man found dead in the house fire was shot to death. Investigators believe the woman killed the man, then set the house on fire and shot herself.

Warshaw says evidence at the scene suggested an accelerant was used to start the blaze.

Police did not release the names of the victims, but say the man was in his late-20s and the woman in her early-30s.

Neighbors tell News 12 New Jersey the pair were boyfriend and girlfriend.
