Gunman in Pentagon attack dies

The Pentagon's chief of police said the gunman who shot two Pentagon police officers died Thursday from head wounds suffered during the attack.

The attacker was identified as John Patrick Bedell, 36, of Hollister, Calif.

Chief Richard Keevill said Bedell was armed with two 9 mm semiautomatic weapons and several magazines filled with ammunition.

The two Pentagon cops injured in the attack were released from the hospital with superficial injuries, according to Keevill.

Chief Keevill said there was no apparent connection to domestic or foreign terrorism.
