Asbury Park schools continue to slip

Approximately 80 percent of the students that attend Asbury Park schools are not scoring proficiently on standardized tests.

The dismal scores come in spite of the fact the district spends $24,000 to educate each child.

The district is looking to adopt new curriculums in an effort to reverse the trend. One recent change implemented was a switch to school uniforms.

The superintendent is also mulling a plan to put 4th- and 5th-graders in a school of their own while housing all younger grades separately.
