Ex-Seton Hall athlete pleads not guilty in robbery

A former Seton Hall basketball player pleaded not guilty Thursday in the armed robbery of eight people earlier this week.

Robert Mitchell, a junior at Seton Hall who played in 31 games for the Pirates this season, appeared in a Newark courtroom to enter his plea.

The 23-year-old Brooklyn man is accused of robbing eight people at gunpoint in a South Orange home Monday.

Cops say Mitchell stole cash, credit cards and electronics from the home.

Mitchell, who is scheduled to graduate in May, was dismissed from the team Sunday. Seton Hall did not give a reason for the dismissal.

AP wires contributed to this report.
