Large hole causes delays for commuters

Road crews are working to repair a gaping hole on Matawan Road above the southbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway Wednesday morning.

Motorists reported debris falling from the Matawan Road overpass during the early morning commute. Road crews found a three-to-four-foot hole extending completely through the roadway.

One lane has been shut down on Matawan Road while repairs are made. Right and center local lanes southbound just south of Exit 120 on the Garden State Parkway are also closed due to the repair operation.

Joe Orlando of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority says engineering crews are at the scene fixing the problem.
