Dwight Gooden charged with DUI in NJ
Dwight Gooden, former pitcher for the New York Mets and Yankees, has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs and leaving the scene of an accident.
It is reported that the 45-year-old former pitcher had a child in his car during the time of the two-vehicle crash. Police have not said what drug they believe he was under the influence of. Police responded to a 911 call placed at 8:50 a.m. reporting a two-car accident.
Gooden has been released on his own recognizance until a municipal court hearing. Gooden has long battled problems with alcohol and drugs, including cocaine.
