NJ Transit holds open hearing on rate increases

NJ Transit commuters voiced their concerns Thursday about 25 percent fare hikes on the horizon.

People arrived early for the open hearing and packed the room.

Bus fares will increase between $1.35 and $1.70 per trip, depending on the route. Monthly bus passes will cost anywhere from $13 to $15 more and train rides costs will increase an average of $2.00 per ride.

The plan calls for most of the changes to take effect May 1.
