Historic Plainfield building poses safety risk

According to city officials a historic, yet dilapidated building on North Avenue in Plainfield has become a safety hazard to surrounding businesses.

Bricks began to fall from the roof as the 124-year-old building began to crumble following New Jersey?s latest winter storm.

Half of the building was taken down Thursday afternoon and the other half will be razed Friday. People who work and live nearby were evacuated.
