Assumption School in Wood Ridge set to close
Students from Wood Ridge's Assumption School claim they found out about their school closing through text messages from friends.
The Archdiocese of Newark had not yet made an announcement when students began hearing about the school's closing this week. It did, however, confirm Wednesday that Assumption School and nearby St. Joseph's will close at the end of the year.
Assumption's pastor, Father Brian Cullinane, says the diocese is concerned about low student enrollment. Parents and alumni, however, insist they have the money to keep the school going. The pastor says if the school admitted 60 new students in the next two months, it would be able to keep its doors open for the next few years.
