NJ rest areas may get corporate sponsors

The New Jersey Department of Transportation is floating the idea of selling the naming rights to 20 rest areas along the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway.

Selling the naming rights could help chip away at the state?s $11 billion deficit.

A spokesman for the Department of Transportation says the talks are just exploratory.

Approximately 234 million drivers travel the Turnpike each year. Another 396 million motorists use the Garden State Parkway.
