Bakery reopens after Health Dept. shutdown

Freedman's Bakery in Belmar has reopened after being shut down over the weekend by the Monmouth County Health Department.

Health officials say the establishment was operating in unsatisfactory conditions forcing owners to close.

Employees were seen working over the weekend to make the necessary changes to reopen the store.

News 12 New Jersey's Tony Caputo says the store opened at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Many loyal customers braved the wind and the rain to get coffee and pastries at the Belmar landmark. "I was shocked yesterday when it was closed, I was like a fish out of water, I didn't know where to go," says Genevieve Sculthorpe of Wall Township.
