Jersey City residents under boil water advisory

United Water officials issued a boil water advisory Thursday to all Jersey City residents due to a water main break.

United Water's emergency team completed its first round of water quality testing and will be issuing a second round of testing Thursday evening. Test results will be available on Friday.

According to officials, the break occurred near Belleville Turnpike, causing low water pressure throughout the city. Officials say workers closed off valves to the broken water main around 2 a.m. Thursday, restoring water pressure to the city.

Residents are instructed to continue boiling water for consumption until further notice.
