Debris falls from plane at Newark Airport

An airplane taking off from Newark Liberty International Airport had to make an emergency landing after apparently losing an engine cover from one of the plane's engines.

None of the 134 passengers on board were injured during the incident. The passengers returned to the terminal where they awaited another flight to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Port Authority officials tell News 12 New Jersey that Jet Blue flight 507 landed safely following the incident. One runway was shut down as crews worked to clean the debris from the plane.

Jet Blue officials say they are investigating the cause of the incident.
