North Bergen babysitter accused of neglect

Police say two youngsters wandered off while their babysitter was supposed to be watching them.

North Bergen Police Officer Javier Perez spotted the children and brought them to police headquarters.

Authorities say the children walked more than a half mile away from the 26th Street home where they were being watched to Liberty Avenue and Union Turnpike.

The 60-year-old babysitter, Patricia Galimerti, of North Bergen, was arrested and charged with abuse and neglect. The Division of Youth and Family Services continues to investigate.
