NJ jewelry store robbed of $250K in gold

Police say a safe containing almost $250,000 worth of gold jewelry was stolen from inside a Belleville store Monday.

According to owner Kamlesh Patel, the thieves broke into the Pathmark shopping mall on Washington Avenue through an empty store next to his and cut an exact square around the safe to remove it.

Customers say the precision of the crime leads them to believe it could have been an inside job.

Police dusted for fingerprints in the store and alerted pawn shops in the area to be on the lookout for the stolen jewelry.
