Some county officials getting salaries, pensions
A Kane In Your Corner investigation has found that some county officials are receiving both salaries and pensions.
The investigation found that former Sussex County Surrogate Nancy Fitzgibbons is being paid a $110,000 salary and receiving an annual pension of nearly $70,000. Sheriff Robert Untig has been retired for five years and still appears to be collecting a salary and a pension.
In Mercer County, Sheriff Kevin Larkin is also retired and earning a pension and salary at the same time.
Public policy expert Michael Riccards says that these kinds of "sweetheart" deals should be outlawed in the Garden State.
