New safety issues for Japanese automaker

Toyota officials say they are testing the 2010 GX 460 to try and duplicate the findings of Consumer Reports.

Toyota issued an order to halt sales of the SUV worldwide Tuesday. The order was issued after a report published by Consumer Reports warned readers to not buy the SUV because of roll over risks while making sharp turns.

As of yesterday, the Japanese automaker said it was not clear if a recall would be issued for the GX 460.

A Lexus official says the company will provide a loaner car for any customer who bought a 2010 GX 460 and is concerned about driving it.

AP wires contributed to this report.
