Burglar shot by officer at Brick Twp. CVS

A burglar was shot in the face by a police officer Saturday after he was caught inside a Brick Township CVS.

Police say burglar alarms inside the Burnt Tavern Road CVS sounded at about 6:25 a.m. and when officers arrived seven minutes later, they found an armed man.

According to Deputy Chief Michael Mohel, the responding officers were confronted by the armed man and they fired at him, shooting him in the "facial area." The man was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center, where he is being treated.

The CVS was closed at the time of the incident.
