Route 80 crash kills 2, injures 2

An early morning crash leaves an off-duty Andover Township police officer and a Missouri woman dead. Two others were also injured in the crash.

The accident occurred on Route 80 westbound in the area of exit 26 in Mount Olive. The vehicle was traveling westbound when it lost control and overturned several times. The vehicle came to rest on the eastbound side of Route 80.

The driver, off-duty Andover Township police officer Brian Kern, 25, and Kristen Bubendorf, 19, of Cleveland, Mo. were killed in the crash. The two were ejected from the vehicle.

The front passenger and rear right passenger, both from Newton, were taken to Morristown Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
