Artifacts taken from NJ submarine recovered

(AP) - Officials have recovered two items that disappeared almost 30 years ago from a World War II submarine docked at the New Jersey Naval Museum.

A brass wheel and aluminum checkoff list from the USS Ling turned up on eBay for five days.

Bergen County prosecutors say the seller is a man who lives in Orange County, N.Y. Officials are not going to prosecute him because he said he had bought the artifacts at a garage sale about30 years ago.

The Ling is open for tours in Hackensack. The boat and the museum are operated by the Submarine Memorial Association.
