Report: FBI search may involve insurance contracts

(AP) - A published report says the FBI's search of the home of Toms River's schools superintendent may involve a probe of the district's insurance contracts.

The Asbury Park Press, citing unnamed sources, reported that the search may involve insurance contracts for the Toms River Regional School District.

Agents raided the school board offices, the home of Superintendent Michael J. Ritacco in Seaside Park and another home owned by a district employee.

FBI spokesman Bryan Travers confirmed the search was carried out early Thursday, but would not describe the nature of the investigation.

Ritacco declined to comment when reached by the newspaper.

Tammi Millar, a district spokeswoman, said district is cooperating with the investigation.
