Despite crash, Routes 1 and 9 appear safer

Following a crash yesterday in Linden that took the lives of two people and left three others injured, Kane in Your Corner revisited its investigation into a stretch of Routes 1 and 9.

Kane in Your Corner first investigated Routes 1 and 9 back in 2003 following a pileup that killed six people, including an off-duty cop. At that point, it was one of the worst roads in New Jersey. Since 2003, the state has put a lot of money into the road to make it better.

Kane in Your Corner investigated if any of that money worked. It turns out that today's crash is the exception and not the rule. The newly introduced safety measures appeared to have helped.
