1 dead in Palisades Park blaze

An early morning fire left one person dead this morning in Palisades Park.

Neighbors tell News 12 New Jersey that a woman in her 70s lived in the home.

The fire broke out around 2:30 a.m. on 12th Street. Firefighters were met with heavy fire conditions upon arrival.

Palisades Park Fire Chief Jim Roper said, "We did a preliminary search. We couldn't get in due to the volume of fire and immediately went to a second alarm."

No other information has been released regarding the death. The fire is still being investigated.
