Fire rips through Edgewater strip mall

A fire ripped through several stores in Edgewater last night causing a partial collapse of the structure.

The fire broke out at 880 River Road around 11:30 p.m. Part of the road was shut down while firefighters battled the blaze.

Two firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.

Officials say fire crews will remain at the scene through the morning to continue overhaul operations.

Authorities have not released any information regarding the cause of the blaze.
