8 teens pulled from river after boat capsizes

Several Tinton Falls high school students had to be rescued from the Navesink River today after strong winds caused their boat to capsize.

Pat McGeehan, who lives on the river in Red Bank, saw the eight teenage girls fall into the water just before 5 p.m. and called 911. First responders pulled the teens out of the water. Police say they were part of a rowing team that was practicing.

The girls, who are all students at the Ranney School in Tinton Falls, were taken to Riverview Hospital as a precaution.
