Newark mayoral hopefuls face off in debate

Four Newark mayoral candidates sparred tonight in a debate less than a week before the election.

Newark voters will head to the polls next Tuesday to choose between incumbent Mayor Cory Booker and candidates Yvonne Garrett Moore, Clifford Minor and Mirna White.

During the hour-long debate, which was hosted by News 12 New Jersey's parent company, Cablevision, the candidates answered questions about crime, police officers and services for seniors. Each candidate offered ideas on shaking up the police department to lower the city's murder rate.

Another hot topic during the debate was unemployment and job creation.

Polls will be open on May 11 until 7 p.m.
