High Bridge police: Suspect who prompted lockdown found dead

High Bridge police say an armed man who they were searching for has been found dead in the woods.

The middle and elementary schools in High Bridge were on lockdown beginning at 11 a.m. today due to the search. Police say they received a report of a suicidal man armed with a shotgun roaming the streets near High Bridge Elementary School.

Police say they had hoped to find the man alive and at no time was he a threat to the public.
