Jersey Shore towns counting down to Memorial Day

As summer approaches, beach communities across the Garden State are trying to finish recovering from the winter's damaging storms.

In Avon-by-the-Sea, workers are driving tractors on the beach in effort to push sand away from the boardwalk and flatten out the beach.

Parts of the boardwalk are being replaced in Sea Girt. Rotted wood and supports are also being fixed. Tourism is a $39 billion industry in New Jersey annually and officials say the Jersey Shore pulls in a big share of those earnings.
