NJ State Police: 2 killed in crashes near Trenton

(AP) - New Jersey State Police say twopeople have been killed in separate accidents in the same area ofthe I-95/I-295 beltway north of Trenton.

The rush-hour crashes forced lane closures in both directions,causing massive traffic tie-ups that continued into Thursday night.

State Police spokesman Sgt. Stephen Jones said a three-car crashtook out the southbound lanes of I-95 in Lawrence Township around4:30 p.m. Thursday.

The second accident, which claimed the life of a tractor-trailerdriver headed in the opposite direction, occurred about 5 p.m. -possibly as a result of traffic slowing as it approached the sceneof the first crash.

The identities of the two people killed were not immediatelydisclosed.
