Voters decide around the Garden State
Thousands of voters in places like Newark, Paterson, Spotswood and Jackson turned out to cast their ballot in this year's municipal elections.
Cory Booker was re-elected as mayor in Newark, nearly doubling the votes of his next nearest challenger Clifford Minor, and outstripping the other two candidates.
In Long Branch, Mayor Adam Schneider won an historic sixth term. Jackson Township's Mayor Michael Reina was also re-elected.
In a major upset, Paterson incumbent Joey Torres was unseated by Jeffrey Jones in the mayoral race.
Tony Mack, a former Mercer County freeholder, took the lead in Trenton's mayoral race winning 21 percent of the vote as he heads into the second phase of the campaign and a June 15 runoff vote with the second-place finisher, Eric Jackson.
