Lawyer for Legislature testifies at Van Pelt's corruption trial
A lawyer for the state Legislature testified today that former Assemblyman Daniel Van Pelt never told her he took $10,000 from a developer before getting her advice on consulting work.
Marci Hochman said lawmakers' consulting contracts have many potential conflicts and "make the hair on the back of my neck stand up." Van Pelt has insisted the money was a consulting fee retainer. Earlier in the day, Van Pelt ended his testimony on the stand.
