NJ Transit cuts rail service

Cuts in NJ Transit rail services took effect yesterday as planned.

Most NJ Transit rail lines discontinued some trains, prompting significant changes in arrival and departure times. In total, 31 trains were cut.

The cuts may mean commuters might have to wait longer for trains or find rail cars more crowded.

Many commuters tell News 12 New Jersey they are not happy with the service cuts, especially since NJ Transit issued a fare hike only a month ago.

The service cutbacks come after NJ Transit hiked fares earlier this month in an effort to offset a budget gap.
