Families of schoolyard killing victims relieved after verdict

Families of the Newark schoolyard killings expressed a sense of relief today after hearing that Rodolfo Godinez was convicted on all 17 counts he was charged with.

The family of Iofemi Hightower says it believes justice was served. It also told News 12 New Jersey that they are still preparing themselves for the other five trials that will be held in connection to the killings.

Other relatives told News 12 New Jersey that it was especially difficult to watch Godinez walk into the courtroom day after day during the trial.

Godinez' mother attended most of the trial and appeared to be his only relative in court. Her other son is also accused in the killings and has yet to go to trial.
