Amber Ready program introduced in Hackensack

A mother of a missing girl from upstate New York joined Hackensack officials today to introduce new technology that may help with Amber Alerts.

Amber Ready is now being offered by the Bergen County Sherrif's Department. If parents opt to be part of the program, they fill out an online form with a photo and details that would go on a missing persons poster. The profile is then downloaded to the parent's cell phone and e-mail.

If the child does happen to disappear, the information can be sent to law enforcement officials immediately through the Amber Ready system.
