Man accused of domestic violence fatally shot by Manchester cop

Manchester police shot and killed a man at his home on Sunday after responding to a call that he assaulted his nephew.

According to police, Richard Nordstrom's nephew, Andrew, called 911 and said his 43-year-old uncle was drunk and physically assaulted him.

Cops say that when they arrived, Nordstrom had doused himself with gasoline and was holding a lighter. Authorities say he also displayed a gun, but that it turned out to be a toy.

Nordstrom's nephew tells News 12 New Jersey he was standing next to him and knows for a fact that he did not pour gasoline on himself.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office says it is investigating the shooting.
