Emergency crews contain fuel spill in Port Reading

Emergency crews have contained a fuel spill from an overturned tanker to a retention pond in Port Reading this morning.

The accident occurred around 4:00 a.m. this morning when a tanker carrying diesel fuel overturned on Port Reading Ave near East Tappen St.

Coast Guard officials tell News 12 New Jersey, the incident poses no environmental threat to the area.

The driver of the tanker suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash.

Authorities are still investigating the incident.
