New strip mall looks to cash in on rising consumer confidence

A new strip mall being constructed in Garfield has business owners hoping to cash in on rising consumer confidence.

The latest numbers show that people have felt increasingly more confident about current job and business conditions over the past three months.

The new strip mall features a Super Wal-Mart and Applebee's, both of which are already accepting applications. The Super Wal-Mart will bring in more than 300 jobs and Applebee's will hire 180 people. Other businesses are planning to move in, including a home-improvement chain.

Garfield's unemployment rate is currently around 14%, so the town is hoping that the new businesses will help.
