Christie announces effort to spur NJ businesses

(AP) - Gov. Chris Christie has announced thecreation of a nonprofit corporation that he hopes will helpinvigorate New Jersey's business community, which he said hasshrunk after a decade of bad policies.

Christie says the privately funded intiative, called Choose NewJersey, is described as an aggressive marketing campaign and willwork in tandem with the office of Lt. Gov Kim Guadagno.

Christie says he hopes the state can shed an image that it'sunfriendly to business.

Verizon New Jersey president Dennis Bone was named Choose NewJersey's interim chairman by its governing board of more than 15business leaders.

The initiative comes on the heels of "The Red Tape Review," areport by Guadagno recommending policy changes to make the statemore business-friendly.
