NJ shooting victim's body found in river

(AP) - Police divers have recovered the bodyof a 17-year-old boy who was shot during a brawl on the Jersey Citywaterfront this weekend.

Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio says the shootingoccurred just before midnight Friday, when police responded tocalls about a large disturbance.

Shortly after they arrived, Jermaine Williams of Jersey City wasshot at least once in the abdomen and apparently jumped into theriver. Authorities then began an immediate search, but the bodywasn't found until just before 3 a.m. Saturday.

DeFazio said it's not clear whether Williams died from thegunshot wound or drowned. An autopsy was to be performed laterSaturday. He said the case was considered a homicide, though it'snot yet known who fired the shot that hit Williams.
