Incumbents prevail in New Jersey primaries

In 13 primary challenges across the state of New Jersey yesterday, all seven incumbents running earned nominations from their respective parties.

Former Philadelphia Eagles lineman Jon Runyan won the Republican nomination for the 3rd congressional district, where the GOP has hopes of regaining a U.S. House of Representatives seat in the fall. Incumbent John Adler took the Democrat nomination in the same district.

In the 6th congressional district, which is comprised of Middlesex, Monmouth, Somerset and Union counties, just 63 votes split Republican contenders Anna Little and Diane Gooch. A winner has not been named in that race. Incumbent Frank Pallone was uncontested for the Democrat nomination in the 6th district.

Incumbent Leonard Lance earned the GOP nomination in the 7th district, while Ed Potosnak took the Democratic Party nomination.
