Video of Paterson police arrest sparks investigation

A video posted on the social video-sharing website YouTube, showing an apparent police arrest in Paterson, has sparked an investigation.

The video, recorded on a cell phone, appears to show a Paterson police officer using mace to subdue a man.

Later in the footage, the officer appears to approach another man and threatens to arrest him using profane language.

Paterson police say they're aware of the video and have launched an investigation. Authorities have not yet released any further information regarding the incident.

Law enforcement sources tell News 12 New Jersey that officers can use mace to get someone to spit out drugs. The sources say it's considered less dangerous since the suspect could swallow the drugs otherwise or bite an officer reaching for the drugs. Click NEXT to watch the YouTube video in it's entirety.
