Paterson Diocese cancels farewell Mass

The Paterson Diocese has canceled its farewell Mass, citing security concerns.

Students and parents say they are sad and angry about the cancellation. Students at Paterson Catholic are currently finishing up finals week. Student David Rosado says that he and his classmates were looking forward to getting together one last time at the special Mass.

Students say that they were never officially told by the Diocese that the Mass for Thursday was being canceled and that they found out by word of mouth. The Paterson Diocese released a statement saying, "To keep a sense of normalcy for students throughout this important week of final exams, the Diocese decided to postpone a Farewell Mass which was originally scheduled to be held for alumni and the community at large June 17. As of yet, no new date for the Farewell Mass has been announced."
