Police probe Union County shooting death

The Union County Homicide Task Force and the Plainfield Police Department are investigating the shooting death of an 18-year-old man that occurred last night, according to Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow.

Police responding to reports of shots fired at 404 Plainfield Ave. found Tyrell Brighton, 18, of Plainfield, suffering from a gunshot wound at around 7:50 p.m.

Brighton was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Police are still searching for the shooter and urge anyone with information to contact Union County Crime Stoppers at 908-654-TIPS.
