Fire destroys 4 homes in Paterson
Four homes were destroyed yesterday by a fire in Paterson. Officials say the fire broke out just before 1:30 p.m. on Madison Avenue. The fire sent nearly a dozen people running from their homes.A resident of one of the apartments, Jesus Arroyo, says he's salvaging what he can. He says he was asleep in the back bedroom of his apartment when his mother and father began pounding on his door to wake him up.
Firefighters say the blaze took 90 minutes to extinguish. They also said the homes' proximity to each other made it harder to put the fire out.
The Red Cross is helping those displaced by the fire. The Paterson Fire Department is still investigating to find out what caused the fire.
