Cops: Ex-husband a 'person of interest' in Denville murder
Authorities say the ex-husband of a woman murdered over the weekend in Denville is a "person of interest" in the case. Investigators say 62-year-old Judith Novellino's daughter found her body at around 7 p.m. Saturday and called 911. Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi said it appears that Novellino, an English teacher at Morris Catholic High School, and her killer were involved in "a violent struggle." Investigators say Novellino was stabbed more than 80 times.
Divorce papers stated that Novellino was worried about her safety. According to a document filed in February, Judith Novellino said her husband, 63-year-old Anthony Novellino, would stop at nothing to hurt her. The divorce papers also cite disputes he had with neighbors and a disagreement with the owner of a café.
Bianchi said Novellino was last seen driving a black 1992 Mazda Miata with a tan convertible roof. Anyone who has recently dealt with Novellino is urged contact the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.
