Lockdown lifted at Barnegat schools

The lockdown has been lifted at Barnegat schools.

Barnegat Police Chief Arthur Drexler said authorities received reports that an employee was on school grounds with a gun. Police determined that the reports were not accurate.

The person making the claim heard the information last night. That individual then reported the information to authorities this morning, said Drexler.

Police are questioning the individual who made the threat.

Chief Drexler said at no time were there any weapons on any school property.
