Airport breach student finishes community service

(AP) - A graduate student from China who prompted atemporary shutdown of Newark Liberty International Airport terminalwhen he breached security to kiss his girlfriend goodbye hascompleted his court-ordered community service.

City officials say Haisong Jiang performed 100hours of work with the Newark Sanitation Department and paid a $658fine.

Jiang pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge in March. He stillcould face up to $11,000 in civil penalties from the federalTransportation Security Administration.

The 28-year-old Rutgers University doctoral student admitted hehad passed under a rope and entered a restricted area at theairport Jan. 3 to extra time with his girlfriend, who was leavingfor California after visiting him in New Jersey.
