Bear breaks into West Milford home

A family is taking precautions Thursday after a bear broke into their home.

West Milford residents say they see bears almost daily, but have rarely heard of bears tearing into homes. Once the bear broke the glass, the family says it began screaming and the bear left.

Homeowner Kristine Flynn took pictures of the damage that the bear left behind. Flynn also took pictures a few weeks back when a bear was in her yard. Flynn believes the bear that broke into her home is the same one, since neither bear had tags.

The DEP has now set up a humane trap in the family's yard. They hope to capture the bear and relocate it.
