AVP volleyball tournament returns to the Jersey Shore

The AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tournament is set to make its return to the Jersey Shore this weekend in Belmar.

The tournament was last played in Belmar in 2008. The shore town has hosted the tournament 17 times.

Town officials hope the pro volleyball tournament will help boost the local economy.

Sixteen playing courts and a 3,000 seat viewing area have been set up on the beach just north of the Taylor Pavillion.

The AVP Nivea Tour Belmar Open will kicked off with Men's and Women's qualifying rounds.
